LED – Light Treatment for Photorejuvenation

LED – Light Treatment for Photorejuvenation

LED – what is it?

LED, or Light emiting diodes, is a non-invasive procedure that activates skin cells with pulses of low-level, non-coherent and non-thermal light energy.  LED red and infrared light delivers powerful therapeutic benefit to living tissue.  Both visible red and infrared light has been shown to affect at least 24 different positive changes at a deep level.  First developed by NASA, LED works by sending energy producing packets of light into the deeper layers of the skin.  Red light LED stimulates the fibroblasts that produce collagen, which gives young skin its plump look.  Blue light LED works by killing the bacteria deep in the skin that is responsible for acne.

Originally designed for commercial plant growth research in space, scientists also found a way to help patients here on Earth.  Doctors found that this special lighting technology helps hard-to-heal wounds, such as diabetic skin ulcer, serious burns, and severe oral sores caused by chemotherapy and radiation.  Aboard ships at sea, injuries treated with LEDs healed in seven days, while untreated  took 14 days.  Laboratory studies have shown that skin cells grow 150-200 percent fasted when exposed to certain LED light wavelengths.

LED therapy pumps light energy into the skin cells, where this energy stimulates the skin cells in a manner similar to photosynthesis, which is the process where plant leaves take sunlight and convert it into food energy.  LED therapy is one of the few non-invasive tools available that can reverse the appearance of aging skin, such as wrinkles and mottled skin tone.  LED lights help to erase the appearances of aging – such as fine lines, wrinkle, enlarged pores and crow’s feet.

LED Light Therapy may also be referred to as Photo-Rejuvenation, Red light or Blue light therapy.  It is not a laser, which utilizes a highly focused and coherent bean of a specific light frequency, and can generate enormous heat and energy at the focal point.  LED lights are not focused, non-coherent and emit no heat.  There is no down time, no recovery time!

LED can be a stand-alone treatment, or combined with Microdermabrasion, Jet Peels or HydraFacials for outstanding results.

During an LED Light facial treatment, your Esthetician will utilize products based with Peptides.  The LED wavelengths push the peptides deeper into the layers of the skin where they rejuvenate, repair, replenish, regenerate, and heal your skin.  Peptides have been recognized to have enormous benefits for your skin and, when combined with light therapy, are driven much deeper in to the skin where they can deliver even more rejuvenation.

Your cells and tissue readily absorb LED wavelengths and respond by triggering cellular energy and a chain of reparative reactions.  Red lights will increase fibroblast action, encouraging them to create more collagen and elastin.  Now, when you add peptides in to the formula you really boost collagen synthesis, skin firmness and bounce, brightness, skin evenness, and many other benefits making the results even more intense.

LED facials are extremely popular because they offer dramatic enhancements to the skin without redness, irritation, pain, or downtime.  At Infuse Skin and Body, we utilize red, blue and yellow LED lights.

Red LEDs reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.  Blue LED lights heal and calm existing breakouts, destroy acne-causing bacteria to minimize future breakouts, and help restore your skin’s clear and healthy appearance.  Yellow lights are used for hyperpigmentation of the skin.  Many times, all three colors are used at the same time.
