Chemical Exfoliation Treatments are a quick, easy way to beautiful, healthy skin. While skin treatments like the HydraFacial and Microdermabrasion exfoliate the dead layer of skin by manual methods, there are many topical products that will also exfoliate the dead layer. By customizing ingredients such as enzymes and chemicals, you can get a great exfoliating treatment while also addressing other issues, such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, aging, acne, rosacea, and many others. Each custom exfoliation is created for each individual person based on their needs at the time of treatment to provide a unique skin treatment.
Benefits of a Chemical Exfoliation
Before any treatment, your skin and medical history will be evaluated, however, for the most part, all skin types can benefit from a Chemical Exfoliation Treatment. A Chemical Exfoliation can:
Minimize fine lines and wrinkles
Minimize acne scarring
Lighten hyperpigmentation and melasma
Revitalize dull or dehydrated skin
Clear up blackheads and milia
Clear up oily and/or acnaeic skin
How to Prepare – During the week prior:
Do not tan or use a self-tanner
Do not use aggressive scrubs or masks
Do not get Botox or Injectable Fillers
Discontinue prescription strength Retin A
Why I Like Chemical Exfoliations (Peels)
These are my favorite, go to treatment. I always say they give you the most bang for your buck. They are quick, inexpensive and address a multitude of conditions. I’m loving my Korean peels even more as there is no stinging and no downtime – just great results.
What to Expect During a Chemical Exfoliation
A Chemical Exfoliation takes 15-30 minutes
Step 1 – Cleansing and Degrease the skin
Step 2 – Appropriate peel is applied to entire face with cotton
Step 3 – After 1-10 minutes, peel is removed
Step 4 – Optional add-on
Step 5 – Protection – The appropriate serums, lotions and sunscreen are applied.
What Happens After a Treatment
Your skin will feel smooth, healthy and very hydrated. You can be slightly red to pink for two hours, but makeup can be applied immediately. Over the next week you can have some slight flaking that can be addressed with extra moisturizer. Peels out of my Korean skin care line create no flaking and no downtime. They are great on their own and amazing when combined with other treatments.
How Often Should you Receive a Chemical Exfoliation
Every four to six weeks for optimum skin care. Many people alternate these with other treatments such as a HydraFacial or Fire & Ice.
