Hydradermabrasion – The New Microdermabrasion

Hydradermabrasion is a relatively new term in skin care.  Spa facials have been around for many years, then came microdermabrasion, now the next step up is hydradermabrasion.  Hydradermabrasion works very much like microdermabrasion because it uses a rough tip to break up the skin’s surface, and a vacuum sucks away the debris.  Unlike microdermabrasion, hydradermabrasion is wet – while the tip is breaking up the skin, and the vacuum is sucking away the debris, a skin care solution is applied to the skin.

There are several types of hydradermabrasion on the market today.  HydraFacial is one of the leaders in hydradermabrasion.  The HydraFacial uses  proprietary serums  which are delivered directly to the skin’s surface via the Hydropeel™ Tip, including activ-4™ which contains glucosamine and lactic acid, as well as active botanicals for cleansing and hydrating all skin types, Beta-hd™ which contains salicyclic acid for cleansing and hydrating oily and acne prone skin and Antiox-6™ an antioxidant treatment serum for all skin types containing hyaluronic acid, vitamins A and E and white tea extract designed to combat the damage created by free radicals within the environment, and deeply moisturise the skin.

The Jet Peel is another example of innovative technology.  The Jet Peel is a

hydradermabrasion machine that  is a hydra exfoliation that utilizes a sterile saline solution at supersonic speed to cleanse and gently exfoliate the skin.  As the process removes built up debris and dead skin cells, it also unclogs pores.  After a skin treatment your skin is deeply hydrated, soft and has even tones.

  The Jet Peel process results in open skin channels allowing immediate uptake of nutritional serums such as Vitamin C, collagen and hylauronic acid.

Hydradermabrasion can help correct many skin conditions.  It is great for mature skin, aging skin, menopausal skin because it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, done correctly it can help build collagen, and it deeply hydrates dry, mature skin.  For oily/acne skin, it can exfoliate the dead layer so that oils can get out, it can control oil and it can help extract blackheads and whiteheads.  For rosacea, it can gently exfoliate without irritating, and bathe the skin in antioxidants specifically for rosacea.  Melasma and hyperpigmentation can be lightened with hydradermabrasion by exfoliating the skin and turning over skin cells quickly to lighten pigmentation.

To prepared for a hydradermabrasion treatment, discontinue Retin-A products for 5 days prior to treatment.  Do not tan before a hydradermabrasion treatment.  Inform your Esthetician if you have ever been on Acutane.
