Home Skin Care – What Should You Do

The Importance of a Good Home Skin Care Routine

The type of home skin care routine you follow  is so important in helping you achieve a healthy skin complexion that is beautiful and glowing. Even if you are doing monthly skin care treatments, 60% of desired results will be from home skin care.  There are four steps to properly caring for your skin.  Cleanse, exfoliate, correct and moisturize. Following a proper skincare routine, you ensure that the effectiveness of the products you use are maximized and help achieve the desired results.

Cleanse

Select the proper facial wash

The first step in home skin care is a cleanser.  Most soaps are not properly ph balanced for facial skin use. Many will dry out your skin.  Only cleansers made just for facial washing should be used to cleanse your skin. Everyone should wash their face at least once daily, in the evening, but it can be appropriate to wash morning and evening.  Over washing is also bad for your face, because of removing too many natural oils that should be there.

Exfoliate

It is also important to exfoliate your skin.  We recommend incorporating the Clarisonic Cleansing Brush into your daily home skin care program.  It gently yet deeply cleanses your pores and exfoliates your skin.  You can also use a gentle exfoliating product made specifically for your face one to three times a week depending on your skin type.  This helps to remove the dead cells allowing new healthy cells to take their place.  This process turns your complexion from dull and dry to more vibrant, bright and smooth.  It can also help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and keeps your skin much softer.

Correct

The correct step in your home skin care routine is where you can apply serums and other products that can really help to protect and change your skin.  For example, vitamin C will help to protect your skin from pollutants that our skin is subjected to on a daily basis.  A retinol can be used to help with acne or to smooth and tone aging skin.  There are many options that can be customized to your skin care needs.

Moisturize

Moisturizing your skin is also a must!  It’s the final step in your home skin care program.  Dry, dehydrated skin equals aging skin.  The job of a moisturizer is to attract moisture and to protect the skin on your face by forming a barrier that holds in the water that is there.  By using a moisturizer, you can stop your skin from losing its hydration.  And as always, your daytime moisturizer needs to have an SPF of 30 or more!

Even oily skin needs moisture, one that will protect the skin, keep it hydrated and matify it during the day.
